Colours We Love to Use For...
-
Bright rooms
For really bright rooms, we tend to use these paint colours – some gentle, some bold – as our go-tos, but don't let that stop you from experimenting with other colours in the collection.
-
Medium-light rooms
For rooms with a medium level of light, we favour rich flavourful colours or soft, easy-to-live-with colours. Both change with the varying degree of light over the course of the day giving a different atmosphere and sensibility depending on what time it is. This creates a little interior magic!
-
Dark rooms
When painting a dark room, push your limits a little with especially bright or dark shades. We go for colours that have a dramatic impact, allowing the furniture and pieces on the walls to sing loudly. These colours provide the perfect backdrop for small spaces that want to stand out.
-
Small rooms
Don't ever be afraid to go for a bold paint colour in a small room – especially if it’s also a dark one. We favour rich, jewel-like colours that have the ability to envelope you with warmth and comfort. This is a small selection of some of our favourite paint colours to use in small rooms.
-
Medium-sized rooms
Mid-sized rooms – often bedrooms or sitting rooms – can go in a variety of different directions. We often opt for soft, calming colours that provide a sense of peace in this kind of room, but so much depends on the light and function of the space, and there are no concrete rules.
-
Large rooms
You can really go to town in a large room, and we like to play up to the space’s proportions in fun and creative ways. This might mean combining two colours in symphony, using a pale backdrop for murals, experimenting with different shades on the woodwork, or just going extra bold with your main colour.
-
Sitting room
The sitting room is one of the most important rooms in the house for self-expression. It’s likely the room of your house that has the biggest impact on visitors, and it’s the ideal opportunity to show off your personality freely. With this in mind, we tend to choose colours that provide a great backdrop for eclectic mixes of art, antiques, and furnishings.
-
Kitchens
We usually choose soft colours for kitchens that are easy to live with. Colours like this work with any level of light, and won’t fight with the style and layout of your kitchen. They also allow for free rein when it comes to fabrics and other furnishings.
-
Bedrooms
Bedrooms should be calming, relaxing settings, and as a studio we often go for softer paint colours to create this atmosphere. There are no hard and fast rules here though – we are always experimenting with colour and listening to our clients’ needs.
-
Bathrooms
For some, a bathroom needs to be a place of sanctuary, while for others, a more adventurous interior feels right. When choosing a colour for this space, consider what feeling you want to evoke. Is this a place of fantasy and creativity? Or is it the room where you come to switch off and soothe your soul?
-
Hallways
The best colour for a hallway completely depends on its size and the amount of light. We often choose dramatic colours that make an impact upon entry, setting the tone for what is to come. It can be practical to go for a darker, moody colour in a hallway with low light, but a soft, warm shade can be just as lovely. The choice is yours to make.
