Sustainability At Rachel Chudley Colour
As a small outfit we are able think carefully about our choices and move nimbly to implement them. Read on to understand how we approach sustainability.
Our commitment to protecting our environment
Our paints are water-based and almost completely solvent-free, giving them a very low VOC content so that they release minimal amounts of chemicals into the atmosphere.
Our bases are made by a premium paint base maker who carefully selects raw materials and uses responsible manufacturing practices to ensure that our paints are as eco-friendly as possible.
Our pigments are bought from the highest quality suppliers of pigments to ensure our colours last and add depth.
Each tin of paint is hand-mixed by us in our studio in London.
Almost all of the packaging used to ship our products is recycled and recyclable or compostable.
Our Materials
Our bases
Our water-based paints are made using the highest quality bases. They are low-odour, low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds), and quick to dry. They also score the highest possible A+ rating for indoor air quality in accordance with the French VOC Indoor Air Quality Emission testing
Our pigments
We only use the most premium pigments to mix our paint colours.
In addition, we always use the 'full spectrum' of pigments in each colour. This generosity means our paints are very pigment rich, resulting in colours that last and have depth and luminosity.
This also makes for a more sustainable approach, as surfaces do not need to be repainted so often.
Our Process
Each paint tin is mixed by hand and made to order – this helps to minimise wastage and ensures a lean approach to production. Our collection of colours is designed to last for years in terms of style and quality.
