Rachel Chudley Colour was founded by renowned London-based interior designer Rachel Chudley, alongside her mother, Elizabeth Chudley and her brother, George Chudley. After developing bespoke colours for her private clients for over a decade, Rachel wanted to bring her own colour collection to a broader audience, so that more people could experience the magic that luxury paints can bring to an interior.

Rachel’s expertise in paint and formulating colours has been honed by working with master colourist Donald Kaufman, whom she met during her early days as an interior designer in the US. Kaufman is a distinguished painter whose work is represented in the Whitney and MOMA in New York. Alongside his partner, Taffy Dahl, Kaufman has built a far-reaching reputation as an expert colourist, collaborating with legendary architects such as Philip Johnson and I.M. Pei, and shaping iconic spaces from Studio 54 to the Obamas’ Oval Office.

Kaufman acted as a mentor to Rachel, teaching her his unique colour theory as well as the science and artistry of developing paints. Over a decade working with Donald, Rachel learned to create luminous, complex colours and formulate paints that would be both luxurious and practical. Out of this experience her unique range of paint colours has been born, carefully developed and designed to shape and enrich all manner of interior spaces.
